Holiness is not separating ourselves from life in this world, but separating ourselves from sin. These two points are vital to a biblical understanding of holiness, and holding to them would clear up two common errors; namely, having a negative attitude toward the law of God, and trying to remove one's self from many of the dusty affairs of this life. The Great Commission cannot be separated from the idea of holiness--to do what Jesus commanded is to be holy. Our thinking on this topic of holiness needs to be renewed, for biblical holiness involves the comprehensive law-word being applied to every area of life together with the expectation that the gates of hell will not be able to hold back the advancing light.
