Here in this passage we find one of the most amazing statements concerning our Lord Jesus. It says in verse 6, "And He marveled because of their unbelief". You would think that, He being the Son of God, that He would never "marvel" over anything since He knows all things, and the fullness of wisdom and knowledge are found in Him. But it is just because He was a man that He had the feelings and thoughts of human nature in His being, just as you and I do. Yes, He was the God-man. And yet He marveled over their unbelief. Instead of preaching on their unbelief, I want to speak to you about saving faith. 1st of all – True and saving faith will believe that Christ is the wisdom of God. (verses 1 and 2) 2nd – True and saving faith will receive the idea Christ's lowliness and poverty. (verses 3 and 4) And 3rd – True and Saving faith will not seek to limit Christ's blessings. (verses 5 and 6) Let's think upon these characteristics, and think about whether or not we are believing or unbelieving in relation to the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ.
