The Hebrew letter "Yodh" is a small letter much like an apostrophe in our language. When Jesus said that not one "jot or tittle" or His Word would pass away (Matthew 5:17-18), He was referring to this letter. Every verse in this eight-verse section of Psalm 119 begins with this letter.
The psalmist is progressing in his meditation on God's Word. He is determined to keep his mind on God and His Word rather than on the problems caused by his enemies. In the previous section he writes, "It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes" (v. 71). In this section He states, "...in faithfulness You have afflicted me" (v. 75). He has confidence in God's judgments even when they seem to go against him.
