Calvinism is the fullest expression of God's soveriegnty AND God as gracious Father.
John Calvin certainly preached the sovereignty of God, but it was the graciousness of the Father that brought peace and comfort to the hurting people of Geneva.
Matthew 25 tells of God speaking to His servants.
How does a person become such that God will say of them, "Well done, good and faithful servant?"
John Calvin is perhaps one of the best illustrations of God's servants.
1) Grace. A good and faithful servant becomes a servant by grace and continues to live by grace.
2. Providence. A good and faithful servant recognizes the sovereignt of God in all things and serves Christ wherever God puts him.
3. Preaching. a good an faithful servant is Christ's mouthpiece. He seeks to preach God's Word so the the sheep hear His voice and follow Him. (See John 20:27 for a definition of preaching)
4) doxology. A good and faithful servant does all thing for the glory of Christ and seeks to bring all thing under the authority of Christ so that all things honor Christ --from government, to work, to family, to church.
May God raise up another John Calvin in our day and may He raise us up to follow Calvin's example.
