Over the last couple of weeks, we heard John 1 opened, seeing John and Jesus' first disciples declare that He is the Lamb of God, the Son of God, the King of Israel. At the end of the chapter, as Nathanael declares amazement at Jesus' ability to know him, Jesus tells him that he will see even greater signs, signs that will point to Jesus, declare His glory and declare God's covenant work to the world. In John 2:1-12, we saw the first of seven signs that John will highlight in his gospel, signs that are the pivotal points in Jesus' ministry, that show, together, God's covenant work in His creation.
