“ The Holy Spirit Came My Way ”
Yes, the Holy Spirit came my way July 13, 1988 in Houston. My life was a total wreck...three marriages down the drain, hopelessness surrounded me to the point that I could not see any point in living any longer. At the age of 11 I asked Jesus to come into my heart, but my life went 180 degrees from Him. Then I heard over KHCB what I have heard over and over...'God loves you just the way you are.' But this night it struck my heart, not just my ears. I wanted that so badly. "Father, I know I have said this to You before, but if there is anything you can do with me, would you please do it?" I went to bed thinking that nothing was going to change. But I woke up and went to work and told my supervisor, 'I was saved last night.' The peace that had come to me! No more war with God, it was gone! Joy in great abundance came to me a few days later, that my brother cried when I shouted to him,"Jimmy, I've been saved!!" That was 15 years ago, and it hasn't changed. I am not the old me...I am a new me. That new creature that Jesus made me. Like Paul, my past is a shame to me, but I press on to the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. I set my sights on walking in a manner worthy of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I thank you for this lesson, and now that I have found your sermons, I listen regularly on the web. If I ever move back to Houston, I would like to attend your church there. God bless your witness, and work and your study, your staff...may your minds be in one accord and led by the Holy Spirit. |
