In order to see the importance of the Supper, we begin with a survey of the OT showing how God's people have been given the privilege of easting & drinking in God's presence. We go back into Genesis & see Abraham eating with Melchizedek. We also survey the feasts & the Passover of Old Covenant Israel. The Passover especially informs our thinking since Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper in the context of the Passover. We examine how that meal was eaten & see how Jesus both anchors the Lord's Supper to the Passover & advances beyond the Passover making the Lord's Supper the memorial meal of the New Covenant, commemorating & making present the victory of Jesus' death & resurrection.
