In Genesis 15 we see the inauguration of the Abrahamic covenant and the circumstances that surrounded it. We read of a question asked by Abraham and an oath sworn by Almighty God. Most importantly, we learn that God Himself became the surety of the Abrahamic covenant while Abraham himself was yet uncircumcised, even as the Lord Jesus Christ is the surety of the New Covenant by His own blood!
