The principle and practice of Christian Liberty is a theme that runs throughout all of the New Testament. But why is it there, and what is so important about it? In this message we survey four dominant themes as to why Christian Liberty is emphasized so much: 1. The first century involved a transition from the Old to the New Covenants. 2. The inclusion of the Gentiles into the Israel of God created unique challenges for the early church. 3. The expansion of the kingdom into a diversity of cultures raised specific questions, and 4. Departures from the gospel into either license or legalism were counter-acted by a sound understanding and practice of Christian Liberty. Let us stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free!
