Aim: To learn that grace always leads us back to truth; and to encourage action, vindicating that truth.
Exegesis: Grace can irritate us. It can create a conflict among believers (v. 11), a challenge within believers (v. 12), and a crisis among believers (v. 13). Grace sometimes confronts us. We need to be reminded of our errors (v. 14a) and be warned about hypocrisy (v. 14b). Grace miraculously saves us. We should appreciate grace (vv. 15-16a) and apply grace (v. 16b).
Key verse: v. 16 ''...knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.''
