-What is the responsibility of believers to the elders? -Where's the balance and where does this go too far?
Church Membership
-Is Church membership a Biblical concept? thoughts? video -Early in church history people were associated with specific regional churches.
*Most NT Epistles were sent to a church
*The New Testament church practice of keeping a list of widows makes sense only in the context of membership - 1 Timothy 5:9
*The instructions for church discipline makes sense only in the context of membership - Matthew 18; 1 Corinthians 5
*When 1 Cor 5 says to “Put Away” this doesn't seem to mean to not allow to come to church. So what does it mean? -It would appear that to "put away" this man is to understand that they removed him from the membership of the church -Look at the second part of the verse again “For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore 'put away from yourselves the evil person” -Notice that Paul refers to those who are "inside" and to those who are "outside." Outside of what?
*Church discipline only makes sense if Church Membership is Biblical and exists *How do you determine who does and does not have the right to speak and vote on such matters? *The meaning of the word "join/associate" in Acts. 5:13 only makes sense in the context of membership
