A Chinese Christian rice farmer owned a farm high on a mountainside. Every day he would pump water into his rice paddies. But every day he would find that his unbelieving neighbour further down the hill had drained the water into his own rice paddies. For a while the Christian ignored the injustice, but eventually he became upset. He asked the man to stop doing it, but he refused. The farmer knew that his own rice was going to die if this continued. So he thought about it, prayed about it, and talked to other Christians about it, and together they came up with this solution. He decided that he would now start his day by first watering his neighbour's field, and then after that, water his own field. He decided to show this man a love that was not selfish. The neighbour was so impacted by this display of love that he wanted to know why this man was so loving. When hearing that it was through Christ, he became willing to listen to the Gospel, and became a Christian.
