When you become a Christian, Christ is calling you to an ever-deepening fellowship and communion with Him in the Spirit. And this fellowship, if it is pursued by you, will lead to your being truly satisfied and content with Christ alone. You will be content to pursue the spiritual realities of the things which are important to Him. You will not be most content with money and the things that money can buy; you will be most contented when you know the reality of Christ and His grace. If you have no one else in this world who loved you; still Christ loves you if you are trusting in Him. If you were to lose everything that you possess; still you would be satisfied because you have Christ. And when you experience this kind of fellowship and companionship with Christ, this is what will lead to fruit being born in your life to the glory of God and Christ. This afternoon we want to focus on what Christ desires most from you in this fellowship. This verse shows us that Christ desires your prayers. I hope that you will see, first, that Christ desires you to learn to pray because He knows that it will not always be easy to follow Him. We will see secondly that Christ desires to see your face when you pray. And then thirdly – We will see that Christ desires to hear your voice when you pray. I hope that you and I will not only benefit from these truths intellectually, but that we will put them into practice in our lives.
