Indeed, it was God's covenant faithfulness to Abraham that moved Him to have Joseph sold into slavery by his own brothers. Yet the end intended by God was His own glory, the preservation of the Messianic seed, and the ultimate good of Joseph. Even so in our own lives, the Lord takes us through hardships and difficulties because He loves us so much: He longs to make us more conformed to the image of His Beloved Son, and He longs to bring great glory to Himself.
