Scripture tells us that the Philistines picked a fight with God’s people, Israel. In First Samuel 17:1, the scene opens with Saul needing a man to go out and fight the opposing giant, Goliath. David, the young shepherd boy, volunteered for that man sized job without hesitation. Saul, after much persuasion, sent the lad to meet and defeat the giant of over nine feet in height. What a victory that was!

David armed with nothing more than a sling shot and five rocks, charged out across the valley Elah, made a direct hit with the first rock, jumped on the giant Goliath and amputated his head. Total victory was his and the whole army of God could rise up from their fox holes and shout praise to God. Little is much when God is in it! David was God led, God directed and God blessed. He was available for God’s service. God would bless him. One little boy with a man sized job was all God needed to accomplish a victory that Saul and all the army of Israel could not accomplish. One man who is filled with God’s power, Spirit led, guided and directed, and in the center of God’s will, can do more than a multitude of others who are not.

David would tell you it was not because of his great power that he won, but because he went in the name of the Lord, in the power of the Lord, and came home with all the blessings of the Lord.

Operating in the natural man’s realm and strength we fail! Moving in God’s spiritual realm and strength we win! David gives all the glory to God when he speaks in the following scripture: First Samuel 17:47, “And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”
