Every person God made lives by fear or faith, one or the other. If we have no one any bigger than “self” to lean upon, we are of all people most miserable and insecure all the time. In God I live, move, breath, exist and function, and without Him I am nothing. I owe every heart beat and every breath to Him, my Maker and Sustainer.

Many of us enjoy the old hymn which was written by Edward Mote in 1832. Here are a few of those inspiring words: “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly learn on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock I stand; all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.”

Yes, without Jesus Christ we are sinking in the quick sand of Satan. We can never lift ourselves out by our own boot straps, but need to cry out to Him for that life that lasts. Hebrews 11:6 tells us, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

Without faith we fail to have Heaven for our eternal home. I’m not talking about faith in self, faith in religion, faith in religious activities or some kind of empty ceremony or shouting a false recitation. I mean a new birth in Jesus Christ.
