When facing a new day, I know I may likely face enormous challenges to my faith! This day may bring a new trial or it may just bring an additional heaviness to yesterday’s trial. This day may bring troubles too big to handle or tiny troubles all day long that I think I can handle! One thing is for sure, some, if not most, of our new days will come with troubles and worries. (Job 14:1, Matt 6:24)

When facing a new day, I know that because of grace, I just may face rapturous joys! Daily, common graces abound richly upon us in all realms of life, material, physical, and spiritual. Therefore, each day brings with it reason after reason to offer thanksgiving and gratitude to God.

Whether this particular day will be filled with trials or joys, I do not know.

However, there is something I am very sure of concerning this day and every day! I may face new grueling decisions. I may face new heavy burdens. I may face a new day of ease. One thing is for sure though, today I will face new mercies!

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lam 3:22-23

New mercies to guide me through a maze of decisions. New mercies to cast my new cares upon the Lord and trust in Him. New mercies to attribute every good gift to the goodness of God!

A new day might have sun or it might have rain. A new day might have laughter or it might have sorrow. But rest assured dear child of God, every time you face a brand new day, you face a host of brand new mercies! Mercies designed just for you, just for that day. Mercies crafted from and spilling from the hands of our Loving Father!

With all the unknowns and surprises that a new day brings, thanks be to God, it always brings new mercies as well.
