Hebrews 2:16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. 17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
God knows what we need to know. We need to know Who Jesus is. We need to know why He can save us. We need to have confidence in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. We need a Saviour. The devil does not want us to be saved. He is not all powerful. He is allowed to cause interference, and sadly we are more prone to listen to his lies than to listen to the truth. I spoke with a man yesterday regarding the panic that many people have been put in since the roll out of the Wuhan virus. People did not bother to ask questions about the poison shots. They just blindly rolled up their sleeves and got the shot. There was an interview of a young female soldier who took the shots to be able to remain in the U.S. military. Since then she has developed massive heart trouble. She cannot work now and she is on meds to try to survive. She thought she needed to take the shots and she trusted her superiors on that matter that dealt with her life. Back to the man I spoke with yesterday. Over 80% of people in Canada took the poison shots in the hope of avoiding death. Yet less than 10% will even bother to listen to the truth and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. People just do not want to think about eternity. They allow “snake oil salesmen” to tell them feel good stories that everything will be alright after death. God gave us His Word. We can know the truth. We do not need to blindly follow any man. We can examine what people are telling us. We must examine what people are telling us. We can trust what God says. He has preserved His Word and His Word is truth. God wants us to know that Jesus Christ is better than the angels. Jesus did not take on the nature of angels. Angels cannot die for mankind. Angels cannot change their nature into that of a man. Angels did fall. Many fell when Satan fell. Angels cannot be saved. Those that fell are doomed to the lake of fire. Adam fell, but God provided the way for man to be saved. God’s law required that a sinless man had to die for sinful men. The blood of a sinless man needed to be shed in order to provide salvation for sinful men. In the Old Testament God declared that the life is in the blood. We are not to eat blood for that reason. Disease is spread through eating blood. Jesus shed His blood to make it possible for us to be saved. Spiritual life is found through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. We need His cleansing. Only His blood can cleanse us of our sin. We have no hope without Him. Jesus took on the seed of Abraham to provide salvation for mankind. In verse 17 we see further that He needed to be made like unto His brethren. God made it abundantly clear that Jesus Christ was not just a man. He spoke of Jesus as being before He was made a man. Those who want to fight against the true deity of Jesus Christ are absolutely ignorant of the facts. They choose to reject the truth and they put their narrow, devil inspired glasses on and they play as pawns for the devil. The devil has lost. He lost the moment he rebelled against God. He will eventually be cast into the lake of fire. Jesus Christ is seated on the right hand of His Father in heaven. You cannot get around that fact. Jesus could not be the needed merciful high priest in the things pertaining to God without being made a man. God is holy. He demands holiness from man. Adam sinned and became unholy. We are born unholy. Yet the demand of God remains the same.
Leviticus 20:7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God.
I Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
The only way we could ever be holy is if we were to be reconciled to God. The word translated as “reconciliation” here means to “propitiate for”. It means to provide the exact and complete atonement needed to remove the sin of man. It is not just a matter of covering up the sin. It is a matter of removing the stain of sin. We need to be forgiven and saved. We cannot continue to live as wretched sinners and get into heaven. We must be born again. We must pass from death unto life. We need to be made new creatures. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can do that for us. The Old Testament high priest was to stand in the gap between God and man. We see that not long after God instituted the priesthood, Aaron led the nation of Israel to sin against God. No human can fulfil God’s holy standard as a high priest. Jesus Christ came as a man, a sinless man who did fulfil the holy demands of a holy God. In verse 18 we see again that Jesus Christ suffered being tempted, yet He did not fall into temptation like Adam did. Jesus Christ, being God and man, suffered being tempted, but He was able to withstand the temptations and not yield to them. Because of that, He is able to “succour” us. He is able to “help” us or to “bring aid” to us. He is able to to that because He never sinned. He did not come to blow off some steam and boast about things He could never do. He came to present Himself to man as the promised sinless seed of the woman. He is able to bruise the head of the serpent. He demonstrated that. While the Catholics want us to trust Mary to do that, and the Seventh Day Adventists want us to believe that law keeping can do that, etc., God says His Son can and did do that. He alone is able to provide the aid we need when we are tempted. He is able to save us from our sin. He is able to give us eternal life. He is there to provide the help we need when tempted. We, those who are saved, have the power to be called the sons of God. That power is the power to say no to the temptation to sin. Not by hollering or cursing the devil, but rather by trusting in the Lord and Saviour Who is the Captain of our salvation. God wants us to know that He has provided the only means for us to be forgiven and saved. He knows our souls long for that salvation. He gave us His pure Word to show us Who that Saviour is and why He can save us. Don’t let anyone deceive you. Trust in the Lord and follow Him. Today is the Lord’s Day. Listen to God today and get to a true, Bible-believing church that will help you to know the true God and serve Him faithfully. You need the truth. The devil wants to keep you from the truth. God will guide you to a true church today if you will ask Him. He wants you to know Him and to grow in Him if you are saved. Pastor Bartel
