Several questions were asked. Here are a few:

1. "What do we do now? Where can we find a place that teaches this?"

This breaks my heart. Who will go to a village, plant roots, and teach Christ? How can we help them? Will the pastors stand up and preach the gospel, stop promising people the world, and call them to repentance and holiness.

2. "What happened to the gospel? Why don’t people preach this anymore?"

An understanding was given that the Bible teaches a foreign God, unknown to many pulpits. People have been promised that the Christian life is about them, success, and their own dreams and ambitions. Jesus told Peter that he’d be crucified.

John 21:18-19, "Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you used to dress yourself and walk wherever you wanted, but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will dress you and carry you where you do not want to go." (This he said to show by what kind of death he was to glorify God.) And after saying this he said to him, "Follow me.""

People today are told to follow Jesus, and they’ll have a house, a family, and happy circumstances. He told the Apostles they’d die. John 16:2 - "They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God."

What happened to the gospel? People corrupted it and made it cheap. Pastors were more interested in success than souls. God’s glory was pushed aside to cater to man. The old gospel is what we must return to. Be finished with perverting the gospel. Let’s be faithful.

These two questions stuck out, along with several questions from Romans 9 that were ultimately answered by the text. Who are you to reply against God? It is not mercy if he owes it to us. We deserve hell not salvation. God gets glory out of hell and heaven, etc.

Let us be diligent laborers. The harvest is plentiful. I’m convinced more and more people are weary of lies. If we give them the truth in the Spirit, not as a message of condemnation - you are so wrong - but of salvation - God is here to open our eyes - then they will repent. These villagers sat for two hours of intensive Bible study. They didn’t need useless stories of prosperity.
