“Ye are Christ's and Christ is God's.” (1 Cor. 3:23)

As God’s children living in this fallen flesh in a fallen world, it is perhaps difficult for us to value who we are in the LORD Jesus, our Redeemer and Justifier. Here the apostle Paul reminds the Corinthian believers that in the LORD Jesus, “ALL THINGS ARE YOURS...” (1 Corinthians 3:21)All things in the election of God by His Grace, Ephesians 1:3-4. All things in redemption and justification by His shed blood at the cross alone, Romans 5:9-11. All things in sanctification by His work alone for salvation, John 17:19. All things in this life and in the world to come, 1 John 4:17; 2 Peter 3:18.

There is nothing in this world that can ever leave the child of God exposed to condemnation. Not their sin nor Satan nor the enemies of Christ in the world. Paul asked and answered the question in Romans 8:35-39: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our LORD.”

There is no greater Word of comfort and support to the heart of God’s children than to read: “Ye are Christ’s”. Who Christ is to God the Father, His children are to Him as well. Not just in their creation by Him but in their salvation through Him. We all live and move and have our being in Christ in creation but in salvation also. He took our sin and in return the Father imputed righteousness to each one, never to be taken away, 2 Corinthians 5:21.

And Christ is God's. He is His Beloved Son. He shares the same Divine nature, John 1:1. He is God the Father’s as His servant Who came in the flesh in the fullness of the time, sent by Him made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem those that were under the law (His elect before He paid their debt at the cross), Galatians 4:4-6. The LORD Jesus faithfully accomplished all that His Father sent Him to do for the salvation of His elect and now has been exalted and is set down at the right hand of the Father where He ever lives as one with the Father and one with those for whom He came as Mediator and Substitute. He is His Righteous Servant, Whom the Father chose and sent into the world to accomplish the salvation of His elect and brought Him forth, upheld Him and in Whom He is glorified and His elect in Him, Isaiah 42:1-9.

It’s not what we have done that has established this relationship with God in Christ. Rather, it is everything that Christ has done. As Christ is God’s so, all things are His children’s: "All things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ.” (2 Cor. 5:18)
