CALL TO WORSHIP
As on the cross of Christ I thought, It seemed I heard one cry,
Is all this nothing in your eyes, You who this day pass by?
Is not such suff’ring greater than, That which you’ve seen before?
And was there ever any man, Who grieved or suffered more?
I looked again, and what I saw, I cannot fully tell.
It seemed within His very bones, There raged the fire of hell.
What caused you grief? I asked the man, What crimes could you have done?
That God Jehovah, struck you down, And left you all alone?
His answer cut my heart like steel, And left me void of breath.
‘Tis for your sins this pain I feel, For you I go to death!
Your soul before my Father’s throne, Could find no place to hide.
This is the way God can be just, and you be justified.
Jehovah’s mercies never fail, each morning they are new.
Great is His faithfulness and love, Therefore, we’re not consumed!
Jehovah God, in Christ the Son, shall all my portion be.
My soul shall therefore wait for Him, and live eternally.

ELECTION AND GOSPEL PREACHING
God’s greatest glory is His sovereign, electing love for His people. “I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.” (Exodus 33:19) The scriptures make it clear that everyone who God elected unto salvation, SHALL be saved. There is no doubt about it.
But election is not salvation. Election is unto salvation. Thinking that whatever will be will be or whoever will be saved will be saved is not consistent with the scriptures. The commandment of the Savior is “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) God won’t save anyone apart from hearing the gospel and believing on Christ. “It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (I Cor. 1:21)
When we preach the gospel, we are to compel sinners to come to Christ, believing on Him. “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (II Cor 5:20-21)
Pastor
DOCTRINE MATTTERS
When I ask people what they believe and teach, I am often told: “our pastor doesn’t really major on doctrine, but he just preaches love”. While there is hardly any doctrine of Scripture that modern day religion stands for, yet the essential doctrines of God’s word they firmly and unitedly stand against. They oppose the truth of God’s sovereign, saving grace. They insist on an equal opportunity god, and hate the Bible doctrines of man’s depravity, God’s unconditional election, particular redemption, effectual calling, and preservation and perseverance of the saints. While only God can convince anyone of these precious truths, we shall never be ashamed or embarrassed to own them and preach them. To deny man’s total depravity is to assert that man does have something to bring to the table, and salvation is not God’s work alone. To deny unconditional election is to assert that there are conditions we can meet to cause God to favor us more than others. To deny particular redemption, (that Christ died for His elect) is to assert that He was somewhat a failure, if multitudes for whom He shed His blood perish in their sins. To deny effectual calling is to assert that man’s will is stronger than the convicting power of God the Holy Ghost. To deny the preservation and final perseverance of all the saints is to assert that the Good Shepherd, who said that no man can pluck a single one of His sheep out of His hand, has lied to us, and is not to be trusted at all. Truth is that salvation, start to finish, is of the Lord, apart from which all men perish helplessly in their sins.

FOR CHRIST’S SAKE – Ephesians 4:32
Everything God has for sinners, does for sinners, and gives to sinners is ‘for Christ’s sake.’ What comfort that is and what a sure ground for hope. God has for Christ and in Christ blessed His people with all spiritual blessings. God has chosen us, adopted us, accepted us, redeemed us, forgiven us, and will gather us to Christ so that we may be with Christ where He is forever. Oh, what will God not do for His people ‘for Christ’s sake!’ Child of God, we can rest here, knowing it is not what we deserve in ourselves, but what Christ deserves as the cause of all that God does for us.
