By the end of this week I will turn 35. In terms of age, I am right in that awkward age gap where those younger than I belong to the computer-techno generation and those older than I are located on the technological scale somewhere between slightly user-friendly to not at all. Admittedly, I lean toward the generation above me and even farther toward the computer-techno illiterate crowd. I still love a book in hand rather than on screen. I have no idea how to operate an I-Pod (my wife helps me to be able to listen to sermons by Piper and Ferguson). My computer skills are mostly confined to Microsoft Word and email, and sometimes those tasks can be a challenge! I had no idea what people were talking about when they mentioned reading a blog. Again, thanks to my wife, I finally caught up with that innovation as well. So here I am!I'd like to welcome you to my postings and thank you for giving a little of your precious time to read through some of my random thoughts. In thinking for several months now of what my intentions were for this avenue of information dissemination, I concluded that the best use of this blog would be to serve as an extension of my own passions. For that reason, I aim to cover a variety of topics that will include doctrinal, cultural, practical, and church issues, book reviews, answers to questions posed to me as a pastor, and thoughts my own grappling with scriptural, textual issues.
My hope is that my readers and I will critically engage the primary, fundamental teachings of Scripture and the crucial, relevant issues of our day in order to live out the Christian faith in daring, extraordinary ways for the glory of God! I pray that we are continually challenged to think deeply, live radically, rest in Christ wholly, and enjoy God completely!
My commitment to you is to put forth my best effort to not be a waste of your time. I pray you find these postings an encouragement to your soul, a building up of your faith in Christ, and strength for your journey. Enjoy, but enter at your own risk !
