Rest

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30).

“Rest” is a sweet word to the weary soul. All seek it, but only believers find it. Paul wrote in Hebrews 4:3, “We which have believed do enter into REST.” He did not say we shall, but we DO enter into rest.

There is a sweet repose, a calm peace, and a sure rest in Christ. We can trust Him to forgive the past, provide for the present, and guarantee the future. If you can believe God, you will find in Christ all you need.

Christ Came To Save Sinners

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” (Timothy 1:15).

This is a faithful saying given by faithful men who were inspired by him who is Faithful and True. It is worthy of acceptation by all men, no matter if one is rich or poor, young or old, bond or free. This is a faithful saying that, “Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.” Let us look at three facts:

First: Who came into the world to save sinners? Jesus Christ the Son of God, the one who is God manifested in the flesh. He is the anointed Messiah that should come into the world.

Second: What did He come to do? He came, “To save sinners!” He did not come to impress us by his miracles, He came to save sinners. He did not come to call the righteous, because there are none. He came to save hopeless, helpless sinners.

Third: How is He going to save sinners? He shall save them by himself. Christ shall bare their sins in his body on the tree. He shall tread the wine press of God’s wrath alone for them; “When he had by himself purged our sins…” (Hebrews 1: 3).

He shall bring in and establish an everlasting righteousness for them. Christ is the sinner’s Substitute. “He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Cor. 5:21.)The Gospel is good news, but only to sinners. Pastor John Chapman

GOD SPARED NOT

In 2 Peter 2:4-7; several times the word of the Lord says, “God spared not;” the righteous and holy judgment of God fell without any mixture of mercy on many. The angels that fell were judged and cast out. The rebels in Noah’s day were judged and with the flood of God’s wrath. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were reduced to ashes for their sinful wickedness. But we also read of God’s mercy to some, Noah and his family were spared. The Lord delivered Lot.

The Lord knows how to justly deliver His people from the wrath to come without compromising His righteous character (2 Peter 2:9; 1 Thes.1:9-10; 1Thes. 5:9). The Lord our God justly delivers His elect from the wrath to come because He spared not the Lord Jesus Christ from the holy wrath of His anger against our sin (Isa. 53:10; Lam. 1:12; Zech. 13:7). Read this verse slowly; “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. (Romans 8:32-22).

What amazing love the Lord God commends to us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us;(Rom. 5:6-10; 1John 4:10).Were it not for His sovereign love, His fetching grace, and the sacrifice of Christ for our sin, we too would eternally suffer the holy and just wrath of God.

Thank you Lord for the gospel of substitution and satisfaction; (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18).
