Rejoicing In The Word For Ladies - Daughters of the King - Part 2 (June 2022)

As daughters of the King, we have a relationship that sets us in the family of God and gives us a home in heaven. Our soul’s salvation was found in Him. All our expectations can be met in Him. Our questions of human doubts and identity can be answered in Him. It is, in fact, better to learn Who He Is, than to expend our days trying to “discover” our ever-elusive “self.”

In addition to Who He Is, there are also tremendous practical benefits to valuing What He Gives. What gifts does the Father give us as His children? We know the Bible tells us God the Father gives good gifts! “Every good and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” James 1:17.

What He Gives:

Let’s consider these gifts for a moment.

1. Because He is Omnipotent, He gives me the gift of His strength. Is there anything too hard for the Lord? Matthew 19:26, “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” God is greater than our greatest weakness, our greatest fear, our greatest trial.

2. Because He is Omnipresent, He gives me the gift of His presence. He is “a very present help in trouble” (Ps. 46:1b). I have His promise, “Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matt. 28:20b). There is nothing in life I must face alone. In truth, I am never alone.

3. Because He is Omniscient, He gives me the gift of His peace. Psalm 139 describes the all-knowing attribute of God in minute detail: “O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast set me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.” Because God already knows me, He knows my past, my future, and my possibilities. Nothing enters my life that does not first pass through the hand of a loving Father. I do not have to worry. Phil. 4:6-7 instructs, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” This marvelous gift of peace is made available to me because I am known by my Savior, and my Savior knows the way.

4. Because He is immutable, He gives me the gift of His security. “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Heb. 13:8). “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end” (Ps. 102:25-27). He never changes! He will never be less merciful or less forgiving. He will never change His plan of salvation. His character and attributes will never change! I do not need to fear men, because my confidence is in Christ. His unchangeable character is a solid ground I can stand upon.

5. Because He is infinite and eternal, He gives me the gift of victorious living. “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God” (Ps. 90:2). “Behold, God is great, and we know Him not, neither can the number of His years be searched out” (Job 36:26). We live in a world of limitations, but God is limitless. He has always existed and always will. His eternality ensures that the final word will be His. I can walk in victory because Jesus is Victor.

These are just to name a few of the good, good gifts our Father has bestowed upon us. In “Daughters of the King, part 3” (and final), we will look at 5 more attributes of God and the blessings available to us as we live in the light of His Word and promises. ~V.K.S.
