I read a quote recently by Dr. Bob Jones Sr., "You can't keep a bird from flying over your head, but you can keep it from building a nest in your hair." What was he saying? He was saying, I can't control everything that comes into my life, but I can control what I do with it. One way I know it is spring is the fact that a fox treats my house like his/her own Chick-fil-A drive through. Worst of all; he comes around the time I'm having my devotions. Yes, I know what some of you are thinking and I agree! I'm sure he/she would look amazing stuffed and placed in my living room. One morning after many days of rain, I decided to let the hens out early in the morning. I went upstairs to do my devotions and no more did I start than I hear running and "the fox is outside." Of course he is! Do you know I couldn't truly focus on my devotions because I had let the fox ... I mean the "bird" build a nest in my hair. The nest was built of 'what-if's, I should have's, I'm going to lose eggs if he eats any....' Silly right? Yes, but if you would be honest you do the same thing too. Christians allow so many nests in our hair. "God loves everyone, but He doesn't love me." "If all I do is look, it isn't truly hurting anyone." "If only I had ... I'd be happy." Allow those nests to stay and they'll destroy your walk. We have to deal with them. After that morning, I determined never to leave the hens out until my devotions were finished. I addressed the problem but the nest of worry had to be removed. I pulled it out with prayer. Yep, call me crazy, but I pray that God keeps my hens safe so that I can bless others with the eggs. We must address the nest and the builder. God's Word and prayer are effective cleaners if we'll obey. Pastor Chris preached on 4/3/22 pm "A Prayer for Revival from a Guilty Heart". The sermon focused on Psalm 51 and David's sin. Take your issue to the Lord; seek Godly counsel; be faithful in your daily devotions and to your church, and soon you'll have clean hair!
