Here is wonderful truth, we eat honey because it is good. God made it sweet, God made it nourishing, God made it good for our bodies and refreshing to our souls. No one needs to force us to eat that which is just plain good! And when our souls see the wisdom and truth of God with living eyes, we are affected in the same manner. We love to take it in, we love to see the truth suddenly glow with light and understand how it all fits together in the creation around us. When we are living souls, wisdom and truth are sweet to us and we crave more and more of them... But when we are dead in sin, empty in our souls and ruined in our lives, we do not have a healthy relationship with the truth. Instead, we fight against it, scream vitriol against its proclamation, and seek with all of our passion, pride and energy to silence the truth of God. It is a good test for us to use to check our souls ~ if we are truly alive, we will love the truth of God's Word, if we are not truly alive, we will hate it, we will avoid it, we will strive to destroy both the truth, and those who speak it... this is what we see happening in the culture around us. Those who have influence, those who have power, those who have the ear of the world, are systematically trying to silence the truth. Calling truth hate-speech, calling the simple declaration that God has standards a crime, attempting to make anyone who thinks differently than they do an outcast, to bring them into conformity with the evil of the day... this must not be allowed to prevail! But we will not stand for the truth against the evil of the day if we ourselves have not loved the wisdom and the truth of God and aligned ourselves with God's will. Beloved, I beg you, in light of the grace that saves us, hunger and thirst for the Word. Seek it like a starving man craves food, and like it is the sweetest thing on earth. When you treat it thus, you will find that your taste for it increases every day!! Seek God in His Word, you will find all the sweetness and richness you will ever need!!
