The flavor of the age is fear. Everywhere we turn, we find fear and fear-mongering telling us to be afraid. Afraid of viruses; afraid of the economic situation; afraid of THEM; afraid of the president or the president-elect; afraid of the media who seem to be afraid of anything and everything; fear, fear, fear!! But God promises that for those who are His, we need not fear ANYTHING! The God of the universe hides us under the shadow of His wing and covers us in the safety of His embrace. There is absolutely NOTHING that can ever touch us apart from the will and pleasure of our loving and sovereign God. This means that even when what touches us feels bad, or seems to be harmful, it is only for our good because our Father IS good and only does good to and for His children. Beloved of God, fear has no place in the life of a believer, in the life of a follower of Jesus Christ. For those who are outside of Christ fear IS an appropriate response to all of the threats that surround. But the good news of Jesus Christ is that His death is offered for our justification, His blood was shed to make us clean and in the cover of forgiveness purchased on Calvary, we also find shelter under the shadow of the Almighty. If you belong to Christ the truth which is our shield and buckler is that we NEED NOT FEAR!! Be strong and courageous, your God goes before you, and nothing can ever finally harm you.
