Exodus 12: 1-13
INTRODUCTION: V.s 13 says, “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and
when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy
you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Truly God’s people are safe in God’s hand.
I. FIRST OF ALL, WE NEED TO CONSIDER ITSELF – THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, BY WHICH WE ARE SAVED.
Note: On the part of the Israelites, it was the blood of the sacrificial lamb. In our case, it is the blood of our
Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29, I Pet. 1:18-19
A. It is very clear that the blood required by God should come from the sacrifice that God Himself
has appointed. vs.5
1. Without blemish 2. A male of the first year. 3. Out of the sheep or from the goats.
B. Jesus Christ, “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Rev. 13:8, Heb. 4:15
C. Where did the blood of Christ get almighty power to save?
1. Christ has all the power to save and cleanse our sins and all the power to defeat Satan – it is
because Jesus Himself is God. Eph. 1:7, I John 1:7
D. The power of the blood to save was not only for all the Israelites but for all the people in Egypt-
Egypt is the type of the world.
E. The blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross – was the only blood sacrifice that God has
accepted for the forgiveness of our sins.
II. THE POWER OF THE BLOOD.
A. The blood of Christ has a divine power to save – nothing but the blood of Jesus can. I John 1:7, Acts 4:12
B. The blood is not simply the only thing that can save – but it must save alone.
C. The blood of Christ is all – sufficient to save. I John 1:9, Rom. 10:9-13
III. THE ONLY CONDITION THAT GOD HAS SET.
A. There is one condition the Israelites must carefully observe – “when I see the blood, I will pass over
you.”
B. This is the only condition of the sinners’ salvation – “ God seeing the blood of Jesus Christ.”
IV. APPLYING THE BLOOD. vs.13
A. Just the blood had to be sprinkled on the doorposts, we must also apply the blood of Jesus Christ in our
life.
B. The blood was already shed for us – but it only becomes powerful in our life when we apply it.
CONCLUSION: The blood of Jesus Christ will never lose its power – but it will only make a difference in your
life when you apply it. THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST.
