Here is an exercise that we all need to practice with constant regularity... the call to bless the name of the Lord with all that is within us, to remember His endless lovingkindness to us, to rehearse before our petulant heart His constant and varied mercies... we need this because our nature left to itself would rather bemoan all that we do not have, left to our own devices we tend to languish in the depths of our self-pity. We forget that the abundant mercies of God are not something we DESERVE, for if they were, they would not be mercy. What God gives reflects His goodness, not our worth. Any worth we possess comes from the fact that God loves us and has poured out His extravagant goodness upon us... any good thing we have is a gift from God, so tune up your heart, and sing the praises of God Most High, bless His Holy Name, oh blood bought child, bless your loving Father who has shown such rich mercy!!
