1 Thessalonians 5:8–10 (NKJV): But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. How now should we live? Sober, earnest faith, honest hope, and hearts full of love, rapt in the joy of being His... it changes us, not just the being but the why even more. We are His because He appointed us to salvation!! He could have appointed us to wrath, but instead He chose to set His love upon us, to save us, to make us His own treasured possession... He chose us, bought us, and paid for that purchase with His own blood. His death and resurrection securing our life, so that no matter what comes, whether we live or die in the flesh, we live forever with Him... that knowledge, rightly understood makes us long for holiness, makes us seek to please the One who inexplicably chose us. Beloved, consider Him, and seek holiness; put on faith, put on love, put on hope... this triad of our lives.
