Here is food for thought, Jesus gave Himself for our sins; that part we sort of grasp... but He did so in order to deliver us FROM this evil age. If Christ died to deliver us from this age, why is it that we often seem so determined to run with all of our might to be a part OF this age? We order our lives around the same pursuits, pastimes, passions and entertainments as the rest of the world. If we turn on many "Christian" stations, radio or television, we find the talk and the items of interest are basically the same as the pop station 2 doors down, or the local television channel. We fashion our "worship" services after the same methods and gimmicks as the concert given on Friday at the local coliseum... we seem to have forgotten the truth that we are called to be other, created for His Glory and pleasure, chosen as His inheritance. We are NOT the same as we were, and we are NOT the same as they are now. Beloved, I beg you, embrace the distinction of your calling and press after Christ with all that you are, so that as He is delivering you from this present evil age, you are not looking back with longing like Lot's wife. We ARE to be salt, just not pillars of the stuff!
