Jeremiah 33:16
“In those days shall Judah be saved,
and Jerusalem shall dwell safely:
and this is the name wherewith she shall be called,
The LORD our righteousness.

The Lord is King!
Author: Josiah Conder Tune: Doxology (Louis Bourgeous)
1. The Lord is king! lift up thy voice,
O earth; and all ye heav'ns, rejoice!
From world to world the joy shall ring,
The Lord omnipotent is king.

2. The Lord is king! who then shall dare
Resist His will, distrust His care,
Or murmur at His wise decrees,
Or doubt His royal promises?

3. The Lord is king! Child of the dust,
The Judge of all the earth is just;
Holy and true are all His ways;
Let every creature speak His praise.

4. He reigns! ye saints, exalt your strains;
Your God is king, your Father reigns;
And He is at the Father's side,
The Man of love, the Crucified.

5. Come, make your wants, your burdens known;
He will present them at the throne;
And angel bands are waiting there
His messages of love to bear.

An old preacher is reported to have said, “I preach as one who may never preach again, as a dying man to dying men.” How solemn a thought that is to those of us charged with preaching. Let us not tickle the ears of dying men with the trifles of earthly issues and vain religion. But does this principle not apply in some way to the one who listens? Ought we not say every time we come to worship, “I listen as one who may never hear again, as a dying man among dying men?” God grant us the same seriousness in hearing as we expect in preaching! --Joseph Terrell

The Only Thing That Makes You Differ
“But by the grace of God I am what I am.”1 Corinthians. 15:10
Christian! the only thing that makes you differ from the vilest being that pollutes the earth, or from the darkest fiend that gnaws his chains in hell, is the free grace of God! --Octavius Winslow

His Name Shall be Called Wonderful
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Everything about our Lord Jesus is wonderful. Here the prophet says; “His name shall be called wonderful.” We sing that chorus; “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there is just something about that name.” “There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we MUST be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
His birth is wonderful, Angels came to proclaim it, “behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is BORN A SAVIOR, which is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2:10-11) What made His birth so wonderful? It was the Eternal God coming down and assuming flesh, uniting Himself to man through the womb of a Virgin. Once He assumed flesh, and became a Man, He would always be a Man. Oh, yes He is Wonderful.
His Life and Works were wonderful. His life was one lived in perfection, lived without sin before God and Man. His was a life lived not for Himself, but for His people. To bear their sin in His own body on the tree, to work out for them an everlasting righteousness for them. He did this by His Holy, unblameable life lived in this sinful world, yet being without sin Himself. His works of Mercy and compassion, how wonderful were they? Listen to what was said of them; “But the men marveled, saying, What manner of Man is this that even the winds and the sea obey Him!” Men marveled at His words, at His deeds, at His compassion, His miracles. Oh, Yes He is wonderful in His life and works!
His Grace and Mercy are wonderful. Everyone who has “tasted that the Lord is Gracious,” know how wonderful His grace is. Consider the people to whom He has shown His grace and mercy. It is to Sinners, the ungodly, our Lord said; “I thank Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father for it seemed good in Thy sight” (Matthew 11: 25-26). If any one of us received from the Lord God what we deserved, we would be utterly and eternally lost. But blessed be the God and Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, “who hath saved us, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” (2 Timothy 1: 9).--Pastor Don Bell
