We are in the midst of the holiday season and if it lasts much longer my clothes will all consist of elastic waistbands. My honey and I just came back from a surprise visit to our oldest boy's college's Christmas program. It was amazing! As we were flying out, I became more excited that I was going to see my boy face to face. Phone calls are nice, but you can't beat in person. As we were preparing for landing the thought occured to me, I knew we were coming, but he didn't. It was going to be a complete surprise. I wondered if that is how God feels right now. He knows when He is coming, but we don't. I still remember my son's face when he turned and saw his daddy and me. Imgaine what it will be like when we hear the trumpet sound! I was reading in my devotions this morning Psalm 34:3-4, "O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears." It will be a celebration when those of us who know Christ as our Savior meet Him in the air!! We were excited to see our boy because he is our son. Our relationship is what made it so special. Our walk with the Lord until He comes will determine how happy we are to see Him. There is another type of celebration mentioned in the Bible; one that magnifies self. Proverbs 14:13, "Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness." During the Christmas season, there will be people who have a void that God wants to fill but they will choose worldly pleasures which only end in 'heaviness'. Christ's first coming was marked by an angelic celebration, but no room was offered by mankind. His second coming will have a celebration in the sky as we are raptured out of this world. Sadly, there will be those who are left behind. "When the Party Ends" was preached on 11/10/19 by guest speaker Pastor Starnes. It is a sermon that gives us perspective on our walk.
If you are in our area Dec. 14th & 15th at 6:30pm come join us for our Christmas cantata "The Journey of Christmas". This Christmas season direct your celebrations upward to the One Who deserves to be magnified.
