Where do you consider home? The true home of every believer is GOD who is the dwelling place of every believer. Our refuge, our strength! "From everlasting to everlasting."
The dwelling place of Israel was gone when they were scattered and we find that Moses said "God was their dwelling place." Before all things were there was God. He preceded all things and will exist even after all things pass.....and God does not just give you a home, but He IS your home! We die and return to the elements from which we were formed and came from, but God is eternal. A thousand years is like yesterday to God. This Psalm humbles us. We do not live forever and one day we will be swept away. Death is the work of God and is sure. He causes us to die because of human sin and rebellion against God who made us as we share in Adams guilt and corruption. Our eternal sins and our secret sins have been turned over to God. He knows them...ALL of them! We have a life of toil and work. If we fear God, worship God, and take Him to heart we will see reality instead of filling our lives with those things that keep us from seeing things as they really are. Read verses 12-end. We get to the prayer of Moses. Make us to thing about the # of our days and they can be lived under God. We are told to teach us to live day by day and as we will receive a heart of wisdom and understanding that as we die and are returned to dust, God will return to us and turn away His wrath.
Satisfaction comes from God and we are satisfied with His steadfast love that will satisfy us. The only real satisfaction in life is the knowledge that not even the death can take us away from God's favor! All our days pass away in being in God's wrath to being in His favor! I am going to repeat this very fact. All of our days pass away in your wrath to being in God's favor! That work of God- Jesus, has changed us from living under His wrath to living in His favor! His Son experiences and takes death and mortality unto Himself to conquer it, taking away sin as He conquers death and brings us to God's favor as He goes to prepare a place for you and me! God gives us a home to live with Him and also makes His home with us! The Psalm says twice..."establish the works of our hands" as He will expand the work that we have begun all the way into perfection. We are always laboring in the Lord and knowing that it is not in vain...that the work we start here below is a beginning of a life of life ETERNAL!
Life is show and we need to acknowledge life is brief because of sin. Yet, with life in Him we will never be homeless, but have an eternal dwelling place because of Christ Jesus...our Lord! You should be smiling now!
