Genesis 32:26, “And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” Jacob refused to give up in his wrestling bout. Even though he received a severe blow he did not cease to hold on to the Lord. He was made lame, but it didn’t make him halt his praying till he had obtained the blessing. So let us never give up asking, seeking and knocking.
It was said that the great helper of the orphaned, George Muller, prayed regularly for the conversion of five friends. He had commenced this when he was about 41 years old. Within a year one was converted. Ten years after commencing prayer two others came to the Lord. It took 25 years before the fourth man was saved. For 52 years Muller persevered in prayer until the day of his death for the fifth friend. He never gave up and yet he never saw his conversion. However soon after Muller’s funeral the man came to faith in Christ.
