Here’s a thought:
Legalism has that element of truth in it, that hypocritically points out the wrong of others. But legalism offers no help of overcoming the guilt nor a way out of the bondage and shame.
Grace on the other hand shows the wrong but provides the answer to the problem and how to celebrate and rejoice and rest in God’s solution.
The following are just a few things we talked about tonight in our study of Romans 5 and 6
Grace... doesn't need us to DO a thing, other than TRUST and REST in the truth that Jesus has done all that is necessary.
Grace... doesn't need our work. Its work is sufficient and grace sufficiently enables us to trust and rest in God’s work in Christ. And its when we trust and rest in His finished work, grace works in us to trust and obey what Jesus places before us.
Grace isn't looking for work from us... it's expecting us to trust its satisfying work in us and to embrace the work set before us.
Redemptive Grace Impels...
Redemptive Love Compels...
Redemptive Faith Propels...
Redemptive Hope Dispels...
Redemptive Grace Impels... grace works in me, to IMPEL me, to trust and rest and be refreshed in Jesus and His work.
Redemptive Love Compels... love works in me, to COMPEL me, to act with the compassion, conviction and confidence of the love Jesus.
Redemptive Faith Propels... faith works in me, to PROPEL me, to cling to Jesus and what He says.
Redemptive Hope Dispels... hope works in me, to DISPEL from me, the threats and obstacles that attempt to distract and hinder the flow of His redeeming promises that have anchored my soul to His faithfulness.
Whatever is not of faith is sin.
Whatever is of sin dies... nothing is excluded. Sin reigns in death.
Whatever is of grace lives and lives forever... because whatever is of grace is righteous. For whatever is righteous, is of God, and whatever is of God, has life in it.
Whatever is of faith, is righteous, and whatever is righteous, is of God. Whatever is of God is imputed for faith. Whatever is of faith, is from God, in Him and for Him.
