We’re halfway into the first month of reading through the Bible. How’s it going? What are you learning? How has God been speaking? Have you gotten behind? Encountered some things you really didn’t understand? Have you been encouraged? Discouraged? Wherever you are, whatever you have experienced…keep at it. The spiritual reward and fruit of knowing, embracing, and loving the Word of God are blessings only to be found in the Word! It starts with reading. So keep reading and soon you’ll be enjoying the blessing. How are we blessed in reading the Bible?

1. The Bible deters us from sin. v1. I’ve heard it said sin will keep you from the Bible, and the Bible will keep you from sin. That’s exactly what v1 states! It is a huge blessing to have the spiritual strength to walk away from sin, temptation, and ungodly advice and influence!

2. The Bible delights our soul as we feast on it. v2 The more we know the Word, the more we delight in it. God shows Himself, He reveals truth, He issues promises, He gives answers…all in His Word. Meditating - thinking about - and delighting go hand in hand. It is another huge blessing to delight in holy, eternal truth!

3. The Bible grounds us in this life. v3 As our faith grows through reading and believing the Word, so does our ability to navigate this life and stand firm through trials and tests and temptations of all varieties. And even more so, not only to make it through but to keep growing! It is a monumental blessing to not only survive the storms and dry seasons of life, but to thrive in the Lord!
