The Gospel Never Gets Old!
No matter how many times you hear the good news of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, it never gets old. It’s always a refreshing, renewing message. It always stirs the heart and restores faith. It always lifts up the soul and provides a solid foundation for life. To know our sins are forgiven and our eternal home is certain because of who Christ is and for what He has done is life-sustaining and life-giving for all of life’s occasions. It never gets old!
John Newton, once a slave ship owner was converted to Christ and became one of church history's most beloved pastors. He is famous for writing the hymn Amazing Grace. While counseling through letter writing he penned these gospel-laden words to an addict in his congregation. “Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.” In 2015, Matt Papa and Matt Boswell would take that gospel phrase and compose a new gospel hymn, “His Mercy is More.”
The Good News will never get old as long as they are sinners who desperately need a Savior and that Savior is willing and able to save!
