When All Seems Lost - July 9-13 Treasure Verse Devotion
This week’s Treasure Verse (TV), “Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is His name (Jer 50:34),” comes in the context of utter hopelessness! Israel and Judah are being judged for their arrogant, gross rebellion and rejection of the Lord. They have dishonored Him and ignored His warnings and mercies time and time again. Judgment has come. They have been defeated and taken captive. The end of their captivity is nowhere in sight. Babylon is strong. Babylon seemingly defeats all foes and rules the world. Babylon has “held them fast.” All seems lost. But when it comes to God’s plan of redemption for His people, all is never lost. Babylon is not in control; God is. Babylon does not have the final say; God does. Babylon is not all-powerful, God is. The people who truly believe in God must remember “Their Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is His name.” His name reveals His strength. He is the Lord of hosts. He is the Lord of the armies of heaven. His rule far surpasses the rule of men and nations. He is strong enough to be the Redeemer.
There are times in our lives when we as the people of God need to remember our Redeemer is strong; the Lord of hosts is His name! Whether we are being disciplined by God, facing the struggles of life, or enduring the challenges of our faith in this world, our Redeemer is strong! Our Redeemer is the Lord of hosts! He will bring us through. He will make good on all His promises. He will sanctify. He will sustain. He will save!!! When all seems lost – it’s not! Our Redeemer is strong.
