This Psalm is always a favorite especially in troublesome times as David also took hold of that goodly heritage. God will also show us the path of life even unto death and this Messianic Psalm fits us to a "T!" This Psalm is a plan for us!
At confession these words become very meaningful and at times we feel Satan has a "bulls eye" on our backs. In the midst of this life as confessing Christians we know we will be ridiculed especially as we right the devil (who will do all within his power and use the world against us,) we right the flesh (old man) and the world around us that is against us. We have certainty in this life but also doubt amidst the uncertainty (unknown) in this life! As Christians we are set and live at liberty even as we are called to live holy lives. We are FREE to serve the Lord and let the Holy Spirit live in our hearts being freed from sin!
How are we going to stand against all of these things? "I am going to set the Lord before me always!" Jehovah the covenant God, the Almighty God, the creator and sustainer of ALL things who is still our Father for Jesus' sake! The Almighty God takes full care of us FOREVER as an unchangeable God. We must consult Him about everything in our life. And if we do not KNOW Him it will translate into uncertainty in our lives. But....we know who He is! Faith is both knowledge and confidence! We have to KNOW who God is!!! Then and then only can we live in that confidence! Sometimes we think better than the road map and GPS and we find ourselves lost. Sound familiar? We must follow and trust HIS direction and we then have confidence that He will lead us to the city without any mistakes! We must HONOR Him and put Him before us ALWAYS. Not just on Sundays either! In EVERY circumstance in our lives. That's a challenge we all have! "We must fill our life with Thy being that our whole being may proclaim Thy Being and Thy ways!" Set the Lord before you and honor Him in ALL things. An then?....
....you will never be moved! Once in a while we do not honor God and we are shaken and uncertain and then we are chastened. We must give HIM the position and honor Him always and let Him lead us in a sanctified and holy life. He will show us the path and their will be great joy and "at Thy right hand" He will lead, guise, and protect us always and will never ever let us down.
