THE PRIVILEGE OF GOD’S CHILDREN

The children of God stand in a much nearer relationship to the Lord than even the angels on high. Yes, those glorious creatures are without sin, but we stand before God in the spotless righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. They call Him Lord and Master; we call Him Lord, Master and heavenly Father! He calls them His servants; He calls us His servants and children. They see His face, yet must maintain a reasonable distance from His noble throne. His redeemed children have boldness to “enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19). “Come boldly to the throne of grace” (Hebrews 4:16). —Pastor Jim Byrd

A FLAWLESS RIGHTEOUSNESS

We must have a righteousness in which Jehovah Himself cannot find a flaw, a righteousness which Jehovah cannot mend, a righteousness which neither sin nor Satan can mar; and unless we have on a righteousness of this nature, we can never enter into the blessedness of the world to come. Where, then, are we to find it? Eternal praises to the matchless mercy of a covenant God, we have it in the blessed Person, glorious work, and spotless obedience of the Lord Jesus Christ! --William Gadsby

WOULD YOU BE JUSTIFED BEFORE GOD?

Then learn one thing! Jesus Christ is ALL in our justification before God! Only through Christ can a sinner have peace with the Holy God. Only by Christ alone can a sinner be accepted and admitted into God’s presence. HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS is the only robe which will cover us. HIS BLOOD is the only mark that will save us from eternal death. HIS NAME is the only name by which we shall obtain an entrance through the gate of eternal glory. I pity those who try to obtain God’s favor by their works; and I sound a clear warning – you are building on sand; you are spending money for that which is not bread; you will hear Him say, “Depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.” But this I know – not one person has ever entered heaven’s courts with any testimony but this – “Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood – to Him be the glory” (Rev. 1:5-6). –Henry Mahan

THE BLESSING OF IMPUTATION

The blessing of God’s grace in what He calls “imputation” has both a positive and a negative sense. Both are described by the apostle Paul in Romans 4 and both are inseparably joined together. Also, as all spiritual blessings are, they are in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Paul says first in verse 6, “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works.” Secondly, it has to do with what he says in verse 8 – “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” God has not imputed our sins to us and He has imputed righteousness to us without works. He laid our sins on Christ who died for them and He made us the very righteousness of God in Him. What was said of Abraham can be said of every person in Christ, and it is enjoyed by each of them through believing – “Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” What a joy it is to look to Christ crucified and to count all things as God has counted them! -- Gary Shepard
