Among the cloud of witnesses we have a little different scenario before us. "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down." Faith is the lifeline tying us to Christ and that becomes active faith when God preaches to us. It is Israel that took hold of this faith. We are not saved by faith, but faith is the MEANS by which Christ saves us! Israel by faith fully expected the walls to fall down (even though they did not have faith after they fell.)

This is a wonder of grace. Faith is necessary to believe this and unchristian scholars cannot believe these things, but also christian scholars put a question mark behind thins to be "accepted by men." We don't know why they do this other than to be "accepted," accommodating, or to secure less ridicule. But, it is God who does ALL things (even raising His Son from the dead) and He is Almighty! Don't mess with your/our faith!!!

Nothing has changed in this time period except now Israel stood firm in her faith! (After 40 years in the wilderness in their unbelief.) Joshua had rededicated himself and the people to God and they had received word how God was going to give the city of Jericho to them...by faith! And the grace of God that comes to Jericho and dismantles the walls! We see this wonder of grace as God gives them the city. Destroying everything in it and putting the things of value into God's treasury. It was all about God's glory! Jericho was a city and the gateway to Canaan. When the people entered the land it was going to be a picture of Heaven that they would inherit. It was that God had put Jericho and all the land under the curse. As everything was destroyed but the treasure so at the end of all time (Revelations) God will destroy everything but renew the treasury (us) to His glory. This pictures the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ! Christ gave Israel the city by marching the city. Utter foolishness to those around. So it is with our experiences around us. This faith is the faith that has lived in Christ's church though the ages and the same that lives in you and I! Do we see the reality pictured in the Old Testament?! (7days.)
