"The Comforting Presence of God" Psalm 24, Isaiah 45, & Psalm 46:10-11
Many Psalms are written regarding the historical settings, yet they appeal to our lives and situations and our life experiences. It bears great comfort and relevance to us!
The concrete situations are often described to us in the Psalms. We know the great upheavals in the world around us in the Psalms. Sometimes there are natural disasters and sometimes the Lord shakes the ground we walk on in diseases and circumstance. But there are BOTH of God!! "I the Lord do all these things." Be aware that we have not even begun to see the acts of God. But God gives us devastation in other ways. He has done that to some of our families and we ask why? Why does the Lord do this and afflict us? The Lord tries us and molds us to sink our roots of faith deeper and what do we say? The Lord IS sovereign and IS in control of all these things. There is no dualism. It is easy to speak our confession when the "wind is in our sails," but also must when it is otherwise.
The Lord does all these things that we may press ourselves closer to His bosom and is our Father for Jesus' sake and upholds and governs all things including you and me! All things are from God and God is still busy with us...shaping us, molding us...and won't be done till we are in glory! This God that does these things is with us! We like to give powers to the entities that occur in our lives but must remember that "I the Lord do all these things." And He IS with us and will bless us! God tabernacles with us and walked the way of the tree to buy us and is now very present with us with His Holy Spirit as the Comforter who address' us. We are NOT walking alone and He will never, ever leave us. And, there is a river that flows from the throne of God and the river of His sustaining grace are ALWAYS upon His people. Our comfort! He upholds us with His strength!
What are we going to do when all these things happen in our lives? Storm the throne of God for our refuge and find comfort in things that God does ALL these things for our personal good! Do we think that God would lead us to glory in a way that is less than perfect in His design??? Do we think He would ever let us go? How often does God not tell us how little we are in our faith?? Read verse 10. "BE STILL and know that I AM GOD!" We have lots to say personally often times, but must put our hand over our mouths and be still!...having our eyes opened to see God's glory! We have to learn to walk on the water with Peter WITHOUT looking downward and we ask our families to walk with us!
Remember...."I AM the Lord thy God and your Father for Jesus' sake and you don't have to be afraid or worried!
What more comfort could you want? Need?...or have?!
