We are tongue tied. There is an actual physical ailment with this topic but this is NOT a physical ailment that affects our speech physically, but we are speechless and cannot find the words....Sometimes we are speechless when we are perhaps shocked, or receive some unbelievable news. We stand a gassed at the tremendous concepts that Paul is referring to here. Many people know this passage of scripture and many pastors use it with visits especially with elderly who love it and live it in their heart and soul. Paul calls them "these things" referring to ALL the collective comforts we have!

You can be assured the Apostle Paul did NOT have a vocabulary problem. He had a masterful grasp of the Greek language, and perhaps was one of the reasons God chose him to articulate God's precepts. He was overwhelmed. Tongue tied. Speechless! He has just pinned awesome, unbelievable things...or things that "blew him away" in today's vernacular.

Why? Let's look at a few of these things:

*No condemnation for you and me! Sinners, who cannot keep the commandments of God and those who deserve to be cast out. Yet....we receive NO condemnation!
*The Holy Spirit witnesses with our spirit that we, who have no part in the family of God, have the RIGHT to call God our Father! As adoptive parents that into their love so God has done with us, signing our adoption papers in the very blood of His Son for us!
*Know that all our sufferings aren't worth even thinking about compared to the Glory that awaits us in Heaven. Things WILL work out for the good of those who love God.
*Saying that we KNOW that ALL things are for us and actually work TOGETHER for our good with NOTHING against us!
*From predestination to Glory it is ALL the work of God who predestined us from all of eternity!
*He called us putting us in a certain place, period of time, and surrounds us with His Gospel of Grace!
*He justifies. Faith, whereby I believe the gift of God instead of walking away as others thinking it is all non-sense. A gift as He justifies and sanctifies US!

Do you see Paul's response now just highlighting a few of these tremendous concepts? It is no wonder he breaks into a tremendous doxology. "If God is for us, who can be against us." Not a questions in the mind of Paul, but....a BOLD REFRAIN! With God for us there is NOTHING and there is NO ONE that can be against us.
