Have you ever wondered why that name Jesus seems to offend so great a number of mankind? Just mention Jesus anywhere in public and anger wells up in hearts, faces turn red with embarrassment, and they want you to shut up right now. As a whole, mankind wants to live without Jesus Christ. People want to shove Him out of our school classrooms, take His name off our courthouse wall, and remain silent about our lovely Savior. What a shame! Countless other nations tried that, but fell in the dust. Some more are well on the way now, including our Nation.

Some of the saddest words of tongue or pen ever written were recorded by our lovely Lord in John 1:10-13, “He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto his own, and his own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Unwanted, unwelcome in a world he had made for man to enjoy, Jesus went about seeking a tiny few who would receive Him. The number was small then, and the number is very small today. Most people of our day will die and go to Hell, not because there was not a way to miss Hell, but because they were ashamed to accept that wonderful provision God gave; his Son. No one is compelled to go to Hell, but people go there because they refuse to repent and receive Jesus.
