The Perils Of Postponement
The Perils of Postponement Rev. A. J. Ogden
There is always danger in delay when it comes to making life’s important decisions, especially the spiritual decisions that determine the route we take for life here and hereafter. Paul made it very plain in II Corinthians 6:2, “…Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
The Word of God has more on the subject in Genesis 6:3, “And the Lord said, My spirit will not always strive with man …” Yes, there is an unseen boundary between God’s patience and his wrath. One who always says no to God will someday say it one time too many. To cross that line will mean Hell for eternity.
The bible says in Acts 24:25, “…Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee .” Well, as far as we know, Felix never did have that more convenient day. There is eternal danger in delay.
Let the Lord speak to you in Proverbs 27:1, “Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth .” We can’t brag about tomorrow because we may not have another day.
About 2000 years ago King Agrippa stood before Paul as Paul tried to win him to Jesus. That king made the mistake that cost him his eternal soul when he said to Paul in Acts 26:28, ‘Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian .” The king was almost but lost, very near victory in Jesus but lost forever. Oh, how sad to miss Heaven when he was almost persuaded. One inch is as bad as 1,000 miles when you miss Heaven. The king came very close to salvation, but forever he will burn in Hell. Almost is but to fail. Be careful about “The Perils of Postponement,” for tomorrow is only on the fool’s calendar. Jesus said in John3:7, “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again .”
