Alito Warns: Religious Liberty 'Is in Danger of Becoming a Second-Class Right'
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Thursday delivered an unusually blunt warning about the future of religious liberty and free speech in the United States, saying both were in danger if the justices donât step in and protect them.
Alitoâs comments came during a speech in a virtual gathering of the Federalist Society, a group of conservatives and libertarians dedicated to reforming the legal system.
Alito, who was nominated by President George W. Bush, has been known as a staunch supporter of religious liberty and free speech, although his comments left little doubt how he will lean in future cases involving those two issues....
Carl, you are ârightâ in more ways than one đ. The vast majority of liberals donât know the facts. If they did, and if they had any sense of decency, morality, and integrity, they would immediately abandon their liberalism. The reason the vast majority of liberals donât know the facts is because there is a three-way conspiracy among liberal/Democratic influencers to withhold the facts and substitute lies instead. The members of this satanic information cartel are Democratic government officials, the mainstream media, and Big Tech companies such as Facebook and Twitter. Of course there are many liberals, including, in all likelihood Mr. Lincoln, who donât WANT to know the facts because knowing the facts would place them in the uncomfortable position of having to admit that they have been wrong all along. Better for them to keep their heads in the sand than to pull them out and see the lions approaching.
Luke 22:69 ESV But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.â
Romans 8:34 ESV Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who diedâmore than that, who was raisedâwho is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
Colossians 3:1 ESV If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Psalm 110:1 ESV A Psalm of David. The Lord says to my Lord: âSit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.â
Hebrews 12:2 ESV Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Matthew 26:64 ESV Jesus said to him, âYou have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.â
Hebrews 10:12 ESV But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
Hebrews 8:1 ESV Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in Heaven.
Glad the gospel is being preached at your church, JY. It was preached at least three times yesterday at our church, and by three different preachers (I say at least three times. It may have been more, as there are other services I didnât hear.) Here is a precious gospel promise also: Romans 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Next to the word âungodlyâ in my Bible, I wrote in my name as a continual reminder of who Jesus died for. Those who are unwilling to admit that they are ungodly sinners deserving eternal damnation will not turn to Christ in entirely dependent faith for salvation. In their minds, they are âbasically goodâ people who have no need of a Savior. They donât realize that they are âwretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and nakedâ and that they are desperately wicked and desperately in need of salvation.
John Lee wrote: 1 Peter 3:18 KJV (18) For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: It is a great gospel text, John. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV (1) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; (2) By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. (3) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; (4) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Another great gospel text, John.
Those 2 Bible passages above were 2 of the passages that were read during the sermon yesterday at my Baptist Church.
Sometimes my character counter and SA's don't agree. The bishop had some interesting comments. and it's good to get ideas from somebody that isn't a right-wing fanatic---perhaps he's a left-winger, since it appeared in the Jesuit magazine "America"? It makes an interesting counterbalance to such right-wing magazines such as "The New American."
Bishop Mark J. Seitz wrote: .... Back in her home country, the girlâs aunts and uncles had been assassinated. If she had not traveled with her family 2,000 miles to the U.S. border, she might have shared the same fate. But after a long and perilous journey and having survived kidnapping attempts, there she was, waiting to legally petition for asylum at a time when hard-line immigration policies like family separation and forced returns to Mexico have made such an act dangerous.
I tried putting myself in that childâs shoes....I felt the overwhelming weight of bureaucratic indifference and abstract government policy positioned against the vulnerability of a child. For a brief instant I felt what it must be like to be on the outside-looking-in of an exclusionary system of power. I felt fragile.
That experience of fragility deeply shaped my understanding of the social commitment of Christians. I realized that our political commitment as Christians is less about seeking self-interest, accessing privilege and influencing power, and more about standing in solidarity with those forced to the margins of the systems we create....

"Religious Freedom" can be viewed from two angles. One from the perspective of the Left which is the heretic, atheist and nominal/Liberalist 'christian' view.
On the Right we have the true Christian view which is provided by the providence of God. We perceive the reprobate run world degenerating into a hellish and demonic cosmic darkness. With the environment of the antichrist and sinful man in his natural view.
We also see the way forward IN Christ.
"Religious Freedom" does not exist in this world. The Prince of this world sees to that. (John 14:30, 16:11) Satan has never been in favour of a Christian freedom around here. (See China today).
"Religious Freedom" is in fact a disingenuous idea put forward by a fallen world which at the same time, is at enmity with God and His witness.
Thus politicians do not "give" us freedom. GOD alone does that.
However GOD does not allow the reprobate fallen world to quote, 'provide,' unquote freedom. The true Christian life, message and witness of His servants on earth is manifest only in opposition to a sinful mankind. Jude 1:3 .... and exhort you that ye should earnestly CONTEND for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."
Something of a disconnect between poor and rich Catholics, like Mr. Alito.

And as the president of a United Steelworkers local in Pueblo, Colo., he has bristled when church leaders attempt to dictate how he should vote, pushing parishioners toward candidates who may share the churchâs position on abortion but otherwise fail to check any political boxes for this union leader.
âWhen you have someone reading a letter telling you that youâre going to hell because you support the candidate who wants people to eatâthat doesnât jibe with me,â he says.
âIâve never lost my desire to be in the church,â Mr. Perko adds, âbut I had no desire to be part of a growing conservative movement that I saw in the church.â...

Once again, Brother Wayfarer, I have to say that you are right. You all in Southern States get to see this more closely than those of us a bit further north as we've already been overrun. Secularism and Progressives are fighting hard for the heart and soul of the South.
Praying for you & your wife as y'all stand against the agenda as you can. Also remembering your son "in a far country."
Quiet Christian, More to the point, secularism is the god of the world and Christianity must be stamped out. I work at a public school. My principal is not a Christian and takes delight in making people so miserable that they leave. Secularism is code for Social Marxism. It has been on earth since the fall. Itâs not been around since Lenin crushed the czarist armies. Itâs been on earth as a counter faith in God for faith in man. It is opposed to God and sets itself up as many gods. The election of Trump was merely a symptom, his defeat was by corruption. The silver lining- 73 million voters cast the ballot for Trump. Obama may add â Trump was elected because âpeople were spooked of having a black man in office â. Once again , Obama proves his election was about how many mirrors could he put around him, to admire his leadership and beauty. Walking about not knowing judgement draws nigh.
""The pandemic, he bemoaned, âhas resulted in previously unimaginable restrictions on individual liberty""
Does he mean the pandemic of coronavirus - Or the pandemic of satanic Liberalism??
The last couple of decades has seen the PC Liberalist pandemic reach heights in society which it never achieved before.
The visible church is a casualty of the virus of Liberalism and has been dying for years now. In fact the false witness is growing bigger and faster than ever before, because Satan and society are happier leaving it alone to play religious fiction and do-gooder.
That is why the nation of Sodom and Gomorrah is fast becoming the influential transgression in all parts of the ignorance of the fallen.
