The Quiet Christian: A principle I learned long ago comes from Acts 17. There the Jews listened to Paul then they studied scripture to see if what they were told was true. In America this principle is not much used. I see that most people go along to get along. That is not a doctrine that God approves.

Ken, I made the call. What happened in Missouri at the hand of those who were "pro-Union" and "pro-Confederacy" was horrific, and I certainly will not condemn self-defense against such outrages as you described. That ongoing simmering skirmish was, in part, a hold over from bleeding Kansas and in part men taking advantage of power without oversight or justice to take whatever they wanted. Hildebrand was on the receiving end. He was a Confederate of sorts..and not like my great, great, great grandfathers. But their circumstances were pretty different too.

Cant disagree with your point, though. It stings. Guess no one remembers occupation post-war. Couldn't let your women-folk go out unescorted if Union troops were around...bad things happened. What the Yankees didn't tear up, they taxed for back taxes, maybe both. So now it's time to kick the South again? Enough already.

Truth and justice were never part of these modern revelers point anyway. All they want is power and to use that power to destroy. Just Satanic.

The Quit Christian Christian: I am glad that you read a book, I'm not familiar with Sam Hilderbrand you say he is infamous who made that call? Missouri during 1850's and 60's was the scene of much bloodshed. Jim lane was scoundrel. It's to get along with people that murder your women folks. I susspose you could use William T. Shermans phrase "war is hell". All men do not have faith. Major John Mosby was a good soldier he did no murder women and children. Today Gen Lee is hated by many. Here is my point The ground swell of Hate for the South is in the North.

Wayfarer pilgrim: You use Confederate as a form of condemnation. Slavery was still happening in the north. Poor people according to scripture will always be with us. What you want is socialism I don't know about these people of color all people have color. If you want to better yourself go to work. Scripture states " a man that won't work don't eat." If you want talk about prison camps, learn about Camp Douglas, Chicago, or Elmira NY. Also read about slavery in scripture. If you want to condemn slavery see who condemned it in scripture.

Points well made, Mike, and I certainly agree. Reactionaries is a good term for those people. They are reacting to their own ideas and, too often, imaginations as well as the imaginations of their college professors.

True, QC, which is why we shouldn't allow them to establish the groundwork for any interchange. The problem we have seen over the years, is they say something untrue, and we argue not about the truth, but about secondary issues. They revise history, and we talk about their reality as if it were reality. The Revolution gave a bit of freedom. These revisionist counterrevolutionary clowns want to take it away. Plain enough they aren't revolutionary, but reactionary. We should call them that, quit playing their game. We need be as assertive with truth as they are with lies. At least that's how I see it. IMO, It's the liars and deceivers that need to defend their lies and deceptions.

A few years ago, I read with interest the biography of Sam Hilderbrand, the infamous Missouri guerrilla. He was living in an area in which injustice reigned and was targeted by it to the point he fought back. He certainly did not try to be at peace with all men as much as it depended on him. I believe he should have shown more restraint, but it is easy for me to suggest 150+ years later from my comfortable, air conditioned living room. I would not class him as a fine Christian gentleman. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/50389

In the other side of the nation was Confederate Major John Mosby who literally terrorized Washington DC practically single handedly. He may have had faith in Christ and certainly respected those who did. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/45436

Few have been able to negate that General Robert E. Lee was a man of saving faith. Consider this defense written by a former staff officer. http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10692

Ken,
The term I use confederates for those states mentioned is based on their slave holding mentality. They want poor people to stay poor, they don’t provide educational opportunities for people of color unless their rich and they offer meager wages to stay chained to the couch, and incentives to abort their young because they believe people of color have no hope and have no purpose. That is why I use the term confederates. They are the wardens of a modern Andersonville prison colony.

Mike, we were in a history museum about six months ago. The educator/indoctrinator told our child with the group that they needed to continue the American Revolutuon because there is income inequality, gender inequality, racial inequality, and medical inequality. I'm not exaggerating. These people do believe they are revolutionaries. The gay man who fixed our watches a few weeks back told me that he was concerned that the revolution would not be bloodless.

Now we all know that the revolution for us ended with the Treaty of Paris. Not for these people. But when one makes up his own truth, whatever they want to believe is equally valid as something full of real, actual truth in their minds,

This leftist garbage isn't a revolution. The revolution occurred in 1776. What's going on now is a counter-revolution, designed to undo 1776. How much more of the language are we going to give away?

From Article::
""Radicals from the 1960s and 1970s now hold powerful positions in government and academia
This is what the revolution looks like.

Weather Underground terrorists, who made no secret of being anti-AmeriKKKan “small-c” communists, are having more success than they could have dreamed of in the 1960s.

They are dominating the language. You know that whole “white privilege” nostrum that we’re paying universities $60K per year to drum into our children’s brains? It is derived from their lamentation of “white skin privilege.” In their ideology, the revolution to overthrow the capitalist, racist, imperialist system summoned them — lily white radicals — to abandon their privilege and embrace the armed struggle.""

====

Interesting observations.

Liberalism and its sister Political Correctness have grown gradually over the years, spreading like the plague, since the sixty's debut of revolution and anarchy rules OK!!!
The 'Radicals' crowd had to grow up and go somewhere; - Pity they didn't actually "Grow-up"!

Some of the Confederates were “good Christian people.” Others were scamps, scoundrels, scalawags and scumbags. Same goes for the Yankees. It does little good to “return to school” if you only read the stuff you like and ignore the rest.

Wayfara pilgrim: The Confederates were good Christian people The states you listed were and are yankees. Southern Seminary is not a state. You should return to school and start again. Power has always been the weapon of choice in confrontation.

I support DJT, however, his presidency and the ruinous Democratic Party has led to a power vacuum throughout the nation. His presidency has not broaden his brand. Now, he’s retained his 38%, but being unlikeable is pretty much how even bad presidents get re-elected- Clinton, W, and Obama case in point.
The ruinous Democratic Party nominated a man who sounds and looks like the creepy zealot out of Poltergeist 2, and people want to elect him because he seems “ nice” . Thus our power vacuum. Covid exposed how little Washington can do but spread money and manure. And we are headed for a whimpering end. Secession is always and option- Washington will not be able to quell it but the secessionists will not be able to sustain themselves. I hope California, Illinois, New York , Minnesota, West Virginia, Missouri and Southern seminary of Louisville, Ky, (the paragon of the SBC woke church denomination) Oregon, Washington state all become confederates.
Food and fuel will be the weapons of choice in the rebellion. Texas owns both commodities.
