Hong Kong: Chinese troops deployed to help clear roadblocks
Chinese troops in Hong Kong have been deployed to help clear roads blockaded by anti-government protesters in a controversial move that could escalate the already high tensions in the Chinese territory.
Dozens of soldiers from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), dressed in shorts and T-shirts, jogged from their barracks in Kowloon to the Hong Kong Baptist University where protesters had built barricades to stop riot police entering the campus. Joining a group of residents, they moved desks, signposts, and bricks blocking a road.
Throughout the past five months of demonstrations, the possibility of military interference and the spectre of Beijing’s past violent crackdown on student demonstrators in 1989 hung over the city....
The protests play into the CCP's hand anyway. The identities of those protesting are likely already known and databased. The PRC is giving them enough rope to hang themselves. This little display of "soft power" is meant to show that the PLA is very ready to step in...and not in gym shorts and matching T-shirts at some point. Like the Three Self Church movement identified Christians so to make them easier to root out, these protests have done a wonderful job of doing them same for those who aren't going to go with the flow but maintain those "Western" ideals of freedom.
May the Lord be with His people who are intermixed in this situation.
And may the Democrats and other Progressives not take too many notes for when they decide they have amassed enough power to attempt to eliminate true Christian witness from this land.
