Santa Clarita shooting: 2 teens killed; attack came on suspect's birthday, officials say
Two students were killed and three other teens were wounded in a shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita on Thursday morning, authorities said.
Shots rang out just after 7:30 a.m. when students at the school at 21900 Centurion Way were scheduled to be in their first-period classes. Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said the department got a call about the gunfire at 7:38 a.m. Two minutes later, he said, sheriffâ€™s deputies arrived at the school and found six students, including the suspected shooter, with gunshot wounds.
Paramedics swarmed the campus, treating the wounded, while deputies, a SWAT team and federal officials combed nearby neighborhoods searching for a 16-year-old boy they thought had fled the campus after the shooting. Authorities later said the suspect, identified by neighbors and sheriffâ€™s officials as Nathaniel Berhow, was found on campus with a self-inflicted...
